Once upon a time, about 17 years ago, I was obsessed with Jessica Simpson. When I say obsessed, I mean obsessed. Looking back now it’s a little embarrassing, but I feel like we all did embarrassing things our middle school/high school years. I wanted all the clothes she was wearing on my favorite show, Newlyweds: Nick & Jessica, and I also wanted her Louis Vuitton Monogram Multicolor Speedy 30. Obviously I could not afford the real thing at that age, or my age now if I’m being honest, so I got one off eBay. More than likely it’s fake, but I didn’t care, still don’t. It looks real to me and dupes are in now, haha. Some of y’all reading this might be too young to remember Newlyweds or her line of edible body butter and body sprays called Dessert, that I had almost all of. Which looking back at this too was probably something a high schooler shouldn’t have had lol. I just wanted it all because she was my favorite. Yes I know, I’m a dork.
Now that I’m older I’ve calmed down and not as obsessed, haha. I still love her and her clothes and shoes, but I don’t have to have every single thing she has. Surprisingly, I only have three pairs of her shoes and one purse that was a gift from my husband almost 11 years ago. It was actually one of my favorite gifts from him because I saw it in store one day and he surprised me with it a few days later. It’s a little small for me these days, but it is probably still one of my favorite purses. I did have a lot more, but I have gotten rid of them over the years. I actually probably still have one of her suitcases at my moms house, lol.
Ok, now that y’all have my slightly embarrassing backstory, I can get to the point of this post. If you keep up with her or just books in general you may know she just came out with a book about her life called Open Book. It talks about things that happened to her when she was younger, her relationship with Nick Lachey, and other relationships. She of course talks about her life now, meeting her husband Eric Johnson, a former NFL player, and having her children. I had preordered a signed copy, but then I decided to get the audio version as well because it comes with 6 songs that inspired the book. I’m pretty sure that’s the only way you can get the songs. Plus, I drive over an hour to work, so I thought the audio version would be perfect. I also listen to it while I run instead of music. Jessica is the one reading it, so that makes it even cooler. You can hear the emotion in her voice as she reads and to me that makes the book even better. I finished the book on my way to work this morning. I loved it! I highly recommend it. I am actually giving away a copy of her book for my next giveaway for when I reach 600 subscribers on my YouTube channel. So be sure to subscribe so you don’t miss out!
When she launched her book she did a small book tour, with just 9 places on her stop. Two of those stops were in TN, where I live. What did that mean………I HAD to go! Luckily the TN stops were only two hours from where I lived. Honestly I probably would have driven further if I needed to, and thankfully I was off work!! It was fate. I was finally going to meet Jessica Simpson! I was fully prepared to go by myself, but my mom went with me. I was glad she was able to go to keep me company driving and standing in line.
I went to her stop in Mount Juliet, TN at Books-a-Million. They sold tickets, but we had to stand in line outside in the cold to wait for our wristband. Once we got our wristband, we had to stand in line again for an hour to wait for it to start. Thank goodness we were able to wait inside at this point. We were pretty close to the front, I would say maybe one of the first 100. They had curtains all around where Jessica was, so we couldn’t see her until it was almost our turn. Before we were almost there we had to set our cameras and phones on a table. They didn’t allow us to take videos or selfies with Jessica. Once I was about 3-4 people away, I spotted her! I started getting a little emotional because this had been a dream of mine for almost 18 years! When it was my turn and she spoke to me, I lost it. I started crying and apologizing for crying, haha. She said “Hi, you look beautiful!” I just kept telling her sorry, that it had been a dream for so long. I was a mess. I didn't even tell her my name, haha. There were several people back there with her and one guy was like, ok turn around and take your picture. I know there were a ton of people to get through, but I wanted my moment! Y’all, she is even more gorgeous in person and so sweet. I just wish I would have been able to actually talk to her.
It was just so amazing and I’m so glad I was able to finally meet her and experience that. Maybe I will get another chance and will be able to form words, haha. I vlogged as much as I could that day, so I will link the video down below for y’all.
I know this post was pretty lengthy , but I just really wanted to share this with y’all. I hope you enjoyed reading one of my dreams coming true! Let me know down below in the comments what celebrity you would love to meet or have already met!
